It was a very good day

(To byl bezvadný den)

hudba Karel Zich – text Michal Bukovič

1983

It was a very good day

One of them kind

And Iīm still feelinī fine

Everythinī started

Way back in June

Nineteen-forty-nine

Thatīs when I was born

And I donīt remember

Nothing from these days

As it is now

Iīm another member

Of the human race

Now Iīm here ever since I got

The ticket for a show

Sometimes livinī on the highest spot

And sometimes pretty low

Now Iīm here with my ups and downs

I donīt ask for a loan

Among the other clowns

I try to be my own

It was a very good day

When I saw the world

As either good or bad

And I never knew

Whatīs there for takinī

And whatīs not to be had

So thatīs where I started

From complete zero

Believinī in my fate

Up to this day

Iīm not a hero
But I try to play it straight

Now Iīm here ever since I got

The ticket for a show

Sometimes livinī on the highest spot

And sometimes pretty low

Now Iīm here with my ups and downs

I donīt ask for a loan

Among the other clowns

I try to be my own

It was a very good day

No one but me

Knows the ways of my own life

Since that July forty-nine

Iīm glad to be alive

Now Iīm here ever since I got

The ticket for a show

Sometimes livinī on the highest spot

And sometimes pretty low

Now Iīm here with my ups and downs

I donīt ask for a loan

Among the other clowns

I try to be my own
